SeaMate was built by a highly decorated U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue helicopter pilot. Most of his missions flew at night, in heavy weather and rough seas, with little to no visibility outside the cockpit.
Every one of those flights was an effort to help. But even from the air, with trained crews and every tool the Coast Guard had, finding someone was often the hardest part — sometimes brutally so. A position that's approximate, garbled over the radio, or simply unknown turns a rescue into a search, and a search costs time nobody in the water can spare.
That is what SOS and MOB in SeaMate are built around. Hit SOS and your MAYDAY script is already written, carrying your live GPS position, your vessel details, and the phone number for the Coast Guard sector you're actually in. Hit MOB and the mark drops the instant it happens, with your return heading, distance back, and time in water counting up in front of you.
