Privacy Policy

RisleeTree Studios, a division of The Rislee Tree Company, builds apps and software designed to be useful, honest, and respectful of the people who use them. That extends to how we handle your data — which is carefully, and as minimally as possible.

This policy applies to all apps published by RisleeTree Studios, including SeaMate, SteadFast, Wax, The Keeper, and Steady Ground.

What We Collect

We collect only what is necessary for our apps to function. Depending on the app, this may include:

• Location data — apps like SeaMate use your device's GPS to display your position on nautical charts, calculate routes, and power safety features such as Man Overboard (MOB) and anchor watch. Location is used only while the app is in use and is not transmitted to our servers.
• Usage data — how you interact with the app (e.g. routes planned, features used, session length) may be collected anonymously to help us improve the product.
• Microphone and speech — apps with voice input features request microphone access only when you tap the mic button. Audio is processed on-device by Apple's Speech Recognition framework and is not stored or transmitted by us.
• Health data — for apps that integrate with Apple HealthKit, data is stored on your device and governed by Apple's privacy framework. We do not transmit your health data to our servers.
• Device information — basic device type and OS version for crash reporting and compatibility.
• Support correspondence — if you contact us, we retain your name, email, and message to respond to you.

What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your data. Ever.
• We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
• We do not build advertising profiles from your usage.
• We do not store your GPS track or route history on our servers.

Third-Party Services

Some of our apps use third-party services to help us operate. These may include:

• RevenueCat — processes in-app subscription purchases. RevenueCat may collect purchase history and device identifiers. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• PostHog — anonymous product analytics to help us understand feature usage. No personally identifiable information is linked to analytics events.
• Anthropic Claude API — SeaMate's AI Captain feature sends your typed or spoken queries to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Queries are not stored by RisleeTree Studios. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Apple HealthKit — for health and fitness data integration, governed by Apple's privacy policies.
• Formspree — used to process support form submissions on our website.
• Vercel — our website host, which may collect standard server logs.

We choose partners who take privacy seriously. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in any of our apps.

Data Retention

Data stored within our apps (routes, settings, vessel profiles) lives on your device. You can delete it at any time by removing the app. Support correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to resolve your issue.

Children's Privacy

Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of our apps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
